The Wisdom Was Never Mine — It Was in the Body All Along

Part 3 of 3 in “What Holistic Chiropractic Really Means” with Dr. Tran from Color Chiropractic

From Dr. Tran at Color Chiropractic

 Hi again,

It’s Dr. Tran here — and thank you for staying with me through this three-part journey.

In the last two messages, I shared what it looked like to let go of the need to “do it all,” and how deep healing can happen when we make room for emotional release.

Today, I want to wrap this up with a lesson that shifted everything for me — a realization that took the pressure off my shoulders and re-centered me in the power of natural healing.

And I can’t share this story without mentioning my wife and partner, Dr. Michelle Hsu. She’s been there through every step of this learning process — challenging me, growing with me, and showing me every day what it means to serve with wisdom and grace. I’m beyond grateful for her partnership — in practice, in faith, and in life.

🟡 Story: The Wisdom Isn’t in Me — It’s in the Body

During one of my early mentorship experiences, I was working closely with a doctor who’d been practicing much longer than I had. I was trying to “crack the code” of what the body needed. I kept thinking: If I can just figure out every single thing going on with this person, I’ll know how to fix it.

I was stressed. Exhausted. Honestly, a little lost in the details.

Then he said something that stopped me in my tracks:

“You’re not here to fix the body. You’re here to listen to it.”

Then he shared a quote from his mentor, Dr. George Goodheart, the founder of Applied Kinesiology — the very foundation of many of the techniques that Dr. Michelle and I use in our office today:

“Diagnose the need, supply the need, observe the results.”

It sounds simple, but it hit me hard.

Our job isn’t to force the body to heal — it’s to support it.
The wisdom to heal was never mine to begin with — it was in the body all along.

🔵 The Body Has an Innate Intelligence

This experience reframed everything for me.

“Chiropractic care is a comprehensive approach to optimal health.”²

We’re not here to overpower the body — we’re here to support what it’s already trying to do. And when we approach care that way, we get out of the way and let something more powerful take over: the body’s innate intelligence.

It knows how to:

  • Heal a wound

  • Reset after a fever

  • Adapt to stress

  • Reorganize itself after injury

Our job as chiropractors — and as patients, too — is to:

  • Pay attention

  • Get curious

  • Support the system with the right tools

  • And then let go

“The body can heal itself when it is working correctly and this can be achieved without medication.”²

🟢 Letting Go of Pressure — For All of Us

This lesson didn’t just take pressure off me as a clinician — it offers something for you, too.

You’re not broken.
You’re not weak.
Your body isn’t failing you.

You’re just missing the right kind of support to help it do what it already knows how to do.

So if you’ve been carrying the weight of trying to fix yourself, manage all your symptoms, or push through pain…
Take a breath.
You don’t have to force anything.
Your body is trying to help you — not fight you.

A Word About Dr. Michelle

Throughout this whole journey, Dr. Michelle Hsu has been right by my side. Not just as my partner at home, but as a co-visionary here at Color Chiropractic.

Her insight, her skill, and her intuition have helped shape how we serve our patients every single day. We’ve learned and grown together — and it’s a gift to work alongside someone who shares the same heart for people and the same belief in the body’s natural ability to heal.

If you’ve been adjusted by her, you know — she brings something special into every interaction.

Final Thoughts from Dr. Tran

“Chiropractic care treats the whole body and believes that what affects one part of the body affects the other parts.”²

That’s why we practice the way we do.

Not chasing symptoms.
Not rushing to fix.
But listening, observing, and supporting the body — and the person — with respect.

I hope this series gave you more than just insight into chiropractic care.
I hope it gave you permission to trust your body again.
To trust that healing is possible.
And to know that you don’t have to figure it all out alone.

With care and gratitude,
Dr. Tran (with Dr. Michelle)

Thank you all so much for the kind responses to these newsletters — it’s truly been a joy to hear your comments as I relive and share these stories with you.

There’s still more we’re excited about passing along, especially some fresh insights we’ve gained recently. After attending the Parker Seminars in Las Vegas last month, I was especially appreciative of a talk from Angela Duckworth on the power of grit in achieving lasting success. I’ll be sharing a special interview recap of that talk next week — it definitely deserves its own spotlight.

Thanks for reading, and as always, we love hearing your thoughts and feedback!
